IronMonth Challenge – Day 23 (5/23/10)
Today I actually took a full recovery day. No light swim, no easy spin — not even a walk with the dog (although I feel a little guilty about that).

The big event for today was a piano recital. Approximately 20 kids (of which 2 were mine) performed their pieces, and then there was a reception afterward (which is always the best part for the performers)! It was interesting to see the wide variance among the children with respect to how they felt about performing before a crowd — from the girl who wouldn’t make eye contact when taking her bow to another one who was bowing with a flourish and blowing kisses to the audience!
I also spent a few minutes putting the new tube and tire on my commuter bike. If you will bear with my geekiness for a moment: I’m actually a little excited about the new tire I got at Jack & Adams. It’s a Continental Gator Hardshell, which has a 3-ply casing and “anti-cut duraskin” for improved puncture resistance. The previous tire I had was a Vittoria Randonneur Cross, and frankly it was a piece of junk. Sometimes you get what you pay for. I guess it is way too early to tell how this tire will perform, but I have a good feeling about it!

et, voila!
